Ellingsen v. an East Bay gunshop
This case was the lead story on ABC national news when it settled. Gun shop owners sold a rifle in a “straw man” sale. The rifle was used by an ex-convict sniper who killed a man driving home with his wife on their wedding anniversary. $400,000 settlement paid by the gun shop. This settlement is believed to be the first and only of its kind.

DEFENSE CASES:
Doran Leasing
Plaintiffs demanded over a million dollars. The case was tried in Contra Costa County Superior Court and a defense verdict was achieved.
Horani v. Alameda County
Employee sued for failure to accommodate his disability, disability discrimination and discrimination based on ethnicity, national origin and religion. Plaintiff demanded as much as $2,000,000 and the case was tried to a defense verdict.
Babilla v. Alameda County
Employee sued for discrimination based on ethnicity and national origin. PWB discovered plaintiff had forged documents and lied during litigation. Case settled three days before trial and employee paid the County a settlement.
Yassin v. Capovilla (U.C. Regents)
Plaintiff was a cab driver who collided with a University of California police car. He sued the university for medical and property damage. The university counter-sued and obtained a $15,000 settlement. The case brought by the cab driver was defensed.
