Jesper I. Rasmussen specializes in representing public entities in cases involving civil rights violations, employment law issues, and claims under the California Tort Claims act.

Among his litigation highlights is Burgess v. County of Alameda, which Mr. Rasmussen tried in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco.  The plaintiff alleged violations of her civil rights and the Americans with Disabilities Act.  However, after a five-day trial, the jury unanimously found in favor of the County.

During his 24 years of legal experience, Mr. Rasmussen has also successfully represented Fortune 500 companies including Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, Safeway, Kraft Foods and Eaton Corporation.  These cases involved product liability, premises liability, commercial and business litigation, consumer protection, anti-SLAPP issues, toxic torts, insurance coverage (first and third parties), insurance bad faith and personal injuries.

Mr. Rasmussen has successfully tried cases in both state and federal courts.  He has won more than 40 summary judgment motions for his clients, and he has extensive experience in writs and appeals in state and federal courts.  Mr. Rasmussen has also appeared and argued before the California Supreme Court.

Mr. Rasmussen is admitted to practice by the State Bar of California, the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court, Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of California.

Outside of Patton Wolan Carlise, Mr. Rasmussen serves as a Judge Pro Tempore in the Alameda County Superior Court.  He also serves on the Bar Association of San Francisco's settlement panel for cases referred by the San Francisco Superior Court.
